How She Revels: Jen Rigley

I'm excited to continue attending the book sessions, especially those with the authors.

I love to read a good book, take long walks along the Lakefront, spend time with my 3 daughters, travel, hike in summer and ski in the winter, and meet up with other women my age for a nice meal and a glass of wine while we discuss all the things.

Age:  59

Location:  Chicago, IL and Fennville, MI

What do you do for work?

I am a former Marketing & Sales Executive...I left full-time corporate work and joined Hillary Clinton's Presidential Campaign in 2016 as a start on a new career path....but we all know how that ended! Now I perform freelance consulting projects (marketing, tech and general management) and am the Visionary/Creator & Curator of Flourishing Over Fifty, a brand that supports and inspires women over fifty in living a more intentional life and reclaiming their joy.

What do you do for fun?

I love to read a good book, take long walks along the Lakefront, spend time with my 3 daughters, travel, hike in summer and ski in the winter, and meet up with other women my age for a nice meal and a glass of wine while we discuss all the things.

What’s the most exciting thing that's happened to you lately?

My oldest daughter's wedding was in September and was the most special, fabulous event.  It was also the first large gathering we had been to since March 2020.  It was truly two families coming together and is something I will never forget.  To see our children becoming adults and start creating their own lives is a beautiful thing to behold.

Last great book you read?

DÀLVI, Six Years in the Artic Tundra by Laura Galloway - listened on Audible (and luckily was able to attend the Revel event where she discussed the book).  I have 3 in my stack to read....We Are Not Like Them, Christine Pride and Jo Piazza; A Radical Awakening, Dr. Shefali and Harlem Shuffle, Colson Whitehead.

Last Google search?

Best warm places to travel in Winter....I want to start planning a sunny and get-away for mid-winter; my sisters and I are hoping to make this an annual event.  Our last trip, right before March 2020 was a great trip to Huatulco, MX.

Tell us something surprising about yourself?

I am an introvert and love to stay home with a glass of wine, a bowl of popcorn and a good book.....so Zoom events have worked out well for me as a middle ground between going out and staying in.  I've made so many new friends via Zoom.

Best new discovery?

We relocated from the suburbs of Chicago to a 3rd floor walk-up in a historical building in the City and I am discovering so many new places.  We are within walking distance of Lincoln Park Zoo, the Boardwalk, the Lakefront and so many new restaurants which we are trying out each month.

What are you excited to host or attend (or both!) on Revel?

I'm excited to continue attending the book sessions, especially those with the authors. And I am really looking forward to hosting in-person events in Chicago - there are so many good options - walking tours, restaurants, museums and I'm hoping to host some in the suburbs as well.
