I founded a company in Germany, together with a global drone tech company. I’m responsible for our flight operations, integration of new tech into our offering, development of “concept of operations” and regulatory permissions. I also moonlight as a pilot (crewed and remotely piloted) and as a consultant.
I spend as much time as I can outdoors and love endurance activities preferably in remote locations. Before COVID, I used to take my mom on hiking trips around the world and hope to start doing that again next year. Volunteering in emergency services counts as fun because I get to spend more time flying or outdoors. At home, laughing while practicing aikido (yep, outdoors) with a group of friends.
Gotta say, I’m excited my <12 nephew got his first COVID vaccine.
Recently finished listening to Fierce Self-Compassion (Kristin Neff) – I loved her perspective on the balance needed of fierceness and compassion, warrior aka “mama bear” and nurturer, applied to ourselves as much as to those we care about.
Actual read – I really enjoyed Factfulness (Hans Rosling) – I love when my world-view gets turned upside down, and this book certainly encourages that.
This morning’s search was for a handheld laser rangefinder.
I do not live in California for the weather! I miss cold weather. My heart is still in Alaska, where I spent a lot of growing up years. Plotting and scheming to see if I can’t spend part of the year living there, yes, in winter.
Hoopla – I love libraries but my normal libraries’ collections of audio books in other languages are very limited (other than “learn a new language”). Wow, Hoopla has tons of them!
I’m excited about the new Revel Ninja group we just kicked off! “Martial” arts seem to turn off a lot of women but there’s a whole spectrum of reasons to start this practice, including those that have nothing to do with “martial” – e.g., along the lines of fierce self-compassion and mindfulness, which may be why I liked that book so much.
