How She Revels: Roan Wallace

What do I want to do with this newfound, delicious freedom?

I would go back to my high school days in Jamaica and tell myself not to worry so much - you're a kid! Stop taking yourself so seriously!

Age: 66

Location: Queens, NY

What’s your story?

The face I see in the mirror is not the face I know. It's as if I met this new, old person who's impersonating me but in an older body and face. I stare at her sometimes and tweak the laugh lines next to her nose, trying to figure out how they got there. Don't get me wrong, I have no regrets having reached this milestone, my father died at 58 so I'm grateful that I've made it this far. My mom, on the other hand, will be 100 years old in November! It's just that I'm still trying to figure out what I want to be when I grow up. What do I want to do with this newfound, delicious freedom? At the moment I am happy doing absolutely nothing!

What’s the best thing that’s happened to you recently?

I retired in June 2021 and I'm over-the-moon happy.  Have not missed Wall Street and its denizens one bit.

What are you most looking forward to?

My daughter's wedding in Jamaica in June. She's marrying a wonderful young man. Now I can stop worrying that she'll be alone.

If you could time travel, where would you go, and why?

I would go back to my high school days in Jamaica and tell myself not to worry so much - you're a kid! Stop taking yourself so seriously!

What are you hoping to get out of Revel?

Fun discussions and activities as well as meeting new and varied people.
