We find over and over again that 40+ women are resistant to the idea of investing in themselves and are always considering the needs of everything and everyone first.
Jackie and Mimi, both from and based in Long Island, are obsessed with one idea: how to make Generation X the wealthiest female generation ever. Both former media executives, they were feeling phased out of a corporate culture that seemed to excessively value youth when they were introduced by a mutual girlfriend. The two connected instantly and out of that initial meeting their company, Modern Gen X Woman was born.
Their idea is straightforward: Gen X women undervalue themselves in the workplace, and that needs to change. We’re not negotiating as well for ourselves as we ought to be — the wage gap is only increasing as we age — and yet we take on more and more responsibility every year. Jackie and Mimi feel passionate about helping women recognize our value and learn to demand our worth with conviction. Let go of needing to take care of everything and everyone else first!
Jackie says “We find over and over again that 40+ women are resistant to the idea of investing in themselves and are always considering the needs of everything and everyone first. We have become a generation of self-sacrifice and putting our own needs last, and that needs to change.”
