Power Host Profile: Laura Zam

Laura loves facilitating the sexual empowerment of women.

I'm talking about sexual healing as it pertains to women, absolutely. But also, for people of all genders, because our issues are intertwined!

Laura Zam worked in the theater for decades. In 2011 she was commissioned to write a one-person play about anything she wanted, and she decided to write about her plethora of sexual problems. After feeling “broken” for 30 years, she didn't know how else to heal. Lo and behold, it turned out that writing and researching that play was the key to unlocking her own healing journey. It was through that project that Laura was finally able to fully understand what specifically was wrong, so she could actually find solutions.

This took 30 years! Laura then became obsessed with how difficult it is for women to get good information about their sexual health. She got certified as a sexuality educator and sexual solutions coach, in order to help others.  Now she runs masterclasses, workshops, and offers personal coaching. She wrote a wonderful book, and helms her own podcast. Laura also does a lot of public speaking on college campuses too, where she offers a set of programs called Campus Consent 2.0. Essentially, she fills the gaps left by traditional consent education, like sexual communication, sexual empowerment for women, and healing strategies for assault survivors.

“I'm talking about sexual healing as it pertains to women, absolutely. But also, for people of all genders, because our issues are intertwined!  For instance, female clients often complain that their partners aren't interested in making improvements in the bedroom. But when I talk to these male partners, I learn they are terrified of trying skills and sucking at it--because of past rejection and shaming from other men. They're terrified of being humiliated.”

Laura loves facilitating the sexual empowerment of women. She considers sexual healing, (including learning to advocate for our own pleasure) the next feminist frontier, and we couldn’t agree more.
